COVID Craze Makes 100 Sun Outlets Owned By Conglomerate Mochtar Riady Affected, 71 Of Them Are In Java

JAKARTA - Retail company PT Matahari Department Store Tbk. reported that the implementation of micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) starting June 22, 2021 had an impact on 100 outlets owned by the company.

This statement was conveyed by Matahari's management in an information disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday, June 28.

"Based on information as of June 28, 2021, we have 100 outlets affected by the reduction in operating hours," said the issuer codenamed LPPF.

The reported number has increased by 26 outlets since the restrictions began on June 22.

“Of the 100 outlets, the Java region, including Jabodetabek, experienced the highest impact. A total of 71 outlets are located in Java, 19 outlets in Sumatra, 4 outlets in Kalimantan, and others outside the region," said Matahari.

Meanwhile, the 100 outlets affected represent 67 percent of the total Matahari outlets and 71 percent of total sales.

"These outlets are affected by the reduction in operating hours, where some outlets have to close at 18:00 local time," said the largest retail chain company in Indonesia.

As additional information, about 30 percent of the total outlets are affected by restrictions on mall visits or diversion of road traffic. Meanwhile, on the other hand, restrictions on the capacity of food and beverage retailers that reduce visits to malls have an impact on 42 percent of the total outlets.

However, this business entity affiliated with the Lippo Group admits that it will fully comply with and support all necessary policies to maintain the health and safety of its customers and employees.

"Indonesia is currently experiencing a record high case rate, and we would like to emphasize that we will do our part to manage this situation including temporary store closures in affected areas if this is necessary," he said.
