JAKARTA - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Papua Field has successfully carried out the production test of the Salawati Development Well (SLW)-F2X located in the Kais Formation, Sorong Regency.
The SLW-F2X well was started on April 10, 2026 using the PDSI #11.2/N80B-M Rig and was successfully completed after undergoing a 54-day drilling process. On June 11, 2026, the well recorded an initial production test result of 623 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) using the artificial lift Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) method.
General Manager of Zone 14, Indarwan Harsoni, said that this achievement was the result of the company's consistency in implementing the aspects of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and the principle of Operational Excellence at every stage of operational activities.
"This success is the fruit of the hard work of the entire team and the support of stakeholders. We express our appreciation to the Regional Government, indigenous people, and all parties who have supported the smooth operation of the company," said Indarwan, Wednesday, June 17.
Papua Field Manager, Ardi, added that the success of SLW-F2X Well was an incentive for the company to continue to optimize the potential of oil and gas production in East Indonesia. This achievement also continues the positive trend of the success of the drilling program previously achieved through SLW-C4X Well.
"Additional production from development wells will make a real contribution to efforts to increase national production while supporting Indonesia's energy security. In addition, sustainable upstream oil and gas activities are also expected to provide a multiplier effect for economic growth and regional income in Papua. With the potential that is still available, we are optimistic that the production performance of SLW-F2X wells can continue to be optimized in the future," concluded Ardi.
