JAKARTA - The government targets the National Nutrition Agency (BPN) for governance improvement in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program within one month. This improvement is related to the findings of the potential for wasting state funds up to Rp. 1 trillion in one month in the program.
Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, admitted that there were still many problems in the implementation of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government priority program, one of which was related to the case of buying and selling the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
Initially, he said, the number of SPPG alias kitchens for organizing the MBG program was planned to be 21,000 points. However, currently the number has swelled to 27,877 points. This means that there is a spike of 6,877 points outside the government's initial plan.
This condition, he continued, has the potential to waste state revenues and expenditures (APBN). He said that the waste came from an incentive of Rp. 6 million per day for each MBG kitchen, which if added up for one month reaches Rp. 1 trillion.
"Therefore, it takes a month to arrange. The good is continued, the bad is not justified," he said at the Coordinating Ministry for Food and Agriculture Office, Jakarta, Thursday, June 11.
Zulhas said that BGN will currently focus on improving the quality of the kitchen related to food safety. This step is being taken as an effort to reduce cases of poisoning in MBG services.
"We have zero tolerance for food safety, there should be no more poisoning. We are focusing on this one month," said Zulhas.
