Gambir Demolished, President Orders Iconic Jakarta Station to Become a National Station in Two Years

JAKARTA - The government will overhaul Gambir Station. President Prabowo Subianto asked the project to start immediately with the target of making one of the oldest and most strategic stations in Jakarta a national station in the next two years.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said that the discussion regarding the development of Gambir Station was one of the topics conveyed by PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin during a meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday. 11 June.

"Immediately. The President's order is immediate," said Dudy when asked when the renovation of Gambir Station would begin.

President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin said Gambir will undergo a major renovation so that in the next two years it will have a new face.

"Gambir will be renovated. Later in two years we will have a better Gambir," said Bobby.

However, Dudy emphasized that Gambir would not be turned into a KRL station. The station is still positioned as a national station.

"No. He will later become our national station," he said.

Meanwhile, Manggarai's role as an integration center or the main hub of the train network in Jakarta will continue as planned.

"Manggarai is a hub, yes," said Dudy.
