JAKARTA - Entering the second semester of 2026, business actors face an increasingly complex and fast-moving business landscape.
Geopolitical uncertainty, price fluctuations, energy, pressure on supply chains to the acceleration of the adoption of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are factors that affect the direction of company policies and strategies.
Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi said that the challenges facing the business world today are no longer coming from one source, but are emerging simultaneously from various interrelated aspects.
"As we all know, entering the second semester of 2026, the business world is moving in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing landscape," said Neneng at the Grab Business Forum 2026 entitled 'The Next Chapter: Scale Smarter, Execute Faster' in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 9.
He assessed that companies must now face a combination of challenges ranging from global geopolitical uncertainty, changes in energy prices, pressure on supply chains to changes in consumer behavior that are increasingly selective in shopping and using services.
"For business actors, the challenge is no longer coming from one direction," he said.
In addition, the integration of digital technology and AI that is taking place faster is also changing the way companies operate, make decisions, and serve customers.
In the midst of these changes, the business world must also adapt to the global economic conditions which are still full of uncertainties.
Neneng highlighted that the growth projection of the East Asia and Pacific region is expected to slow down.
Based on World Bank data, the region's economic growth is projected to fall to 4.2 percent from the previous 5 percent.
"This shows that the business world is facing very broad economic dynamics and for business leaders the impact is very real," he explained.
In the midst of these various challenges, Neneng assessed that company leaders must have a sharper focus in determining the direction of business growth.
According to Neneng, the ability to prioritize and execute strategies in a disciplined manner is an important factor in maintaining business sustainability.
"Well in a situation like this, company leaders of course need to think more sharply and more disciplined of course about how we grow," he explained.
Even so, Neneng reminded that the growth pattern that the company has used is not always relevant to face new challenges.
Neneng assessed that the expansion opportunities are still wide open, but the approach used must be more adaptive and measurable.
"Well, at Grab we believe that the growth opportunity is still very open. However, the space to grow in the old way is getting narrower," he said.
For this reason, companies need to be more selective in determining business steps and ensure that every investment and initiative carried out has a real impact on the company's performance.
"The opportunity needs to be pursued in a more disciplined way. How do you choose priorities more sharply, execute faster and ensure that each initiative really has an impact," he explained.
