JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has spoken out regarding public complaints regarding electricity bills that have doubled.
On the X social media account, a customer complained about the increase in the bill which reached 50 percent from the previous Rp2.2 million to Rp3.3 million.
Responding to the complaint, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL PT PLN (Persero) Gregorius Adi Trianto emphasized that PLN did not raise electricity tariffs.
"Regarding the large amount of information circulating on social media regarding complaints about the increase in electricity bills, PT PLN (Persero) confirms that there is no increase in electricity tariffs. PLN always carries out electricity tariff policies in accordance with those set by the Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, for the April-June 2026 electricity tariff period remains and does not change from the previous period," he said when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, June 2.
According to him, the increase in electricity bills felt by some customers can be influenced by changes in electricity consumption patterns due to several factors, such as weather conditions, temperature increases and increased activity at home which causes an increase in the use of customer's daily electrical equipment.
He added that to monitor the history of token purchases and electricity bill payments independently, customers can use the PLN Mobile application to find out and manage electricity usage patterns more efficiently.
"In addition, PLN also continues to appeal to customers to use electricity safely and wisely, including by periodically checking the electrical installation in the house and removing unused electronic devices so that energy consumption remains under control," said Greg.
