JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI continues to strengthen intermodal integration in the Manggarai Station area to support the increasing mobility of urban communities. The development of connectivity is expected to create a more efficient, fast, and easily accessible journey for the community.

As one of the largest travel transfer points in the Jabodetabek area, Manggarai Station is now a main node that connects various public transportation modes in an integrated area to reach the center of economic activities, education, and public services in Jakarta and its surroundings.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said Manggarai is currently developing into a meeting point for people's travel from various buffer areas to the center of activities in the capital.

According to Anne, the need for transportation integration is becoming increasingly important as urban communities increase daily mobility.

"Intermodal integration in Manggarai is an important part of building a more efficient, connected, and accessible journey for the community. When intermodal transfers are smoother, people's travel time can be more effective and public transportation use is also increasing," Anne said in an official statement, Friday, May 22.

KAI data shows that the volume of KRL customers passing through the Manggarai node has continued to be at a high level in recent years. In 2023, a total of 5,142,739 customers were recorded, increasing to 5,575,711 customers in 2024, and reaching 5,456,309 customers throughout 2025.

Meanwhile, in the period from January to April 2026, the number of customers passing through Manggarai has reached 1,802,445 customers. This figure reflects the strong function of Manggarai as the main link for urban community mobility.

Manggarai's strategic role is also strengthened through its connection with the Airport Commuter Line service to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The service recorded a growth trend of customers from 1,970,531 customers in 2023 to 2,242,536 customers in 2024, then increased again to 2,346,934 customers in 2025.

Meanwhile, from January to April 2026, the Commuter Line Airport service has served 837,778 customers, with customer volume at Manggarai Station reaching 161,074 customers.

The strengthening of intermodal integration in Manggarai is also in line with the development plan for the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai. The 6.4-kilometer project with five stations is targeted to serve 80,000 to 100,000 customers per day after it is operational.

In the development of the area, Manggarai is designed to be connected to KRL services, Airport Commuter Line, Transjakarta, terminals, to the Jakarta LRT network through the concept of integrated connectivity without obstacles.

The integration is divided into three zones that connect the Transjakarta stop, Manggarai Terminal, to the concourse area of the Airport Commuter Line Station and Manggarai Station.

Anne assessed that the success of urban public transportation is greatly influenced by the ease of intermodal travel that the community feels.

"Public transportation will be more effective when each mode can be well connected. The integration in Manggarai is expected to strengthen the role of mass transportation as an efficient, safe, and able to reach more activity areas," concluded Anne.
