JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) will call e-commerce platforms such as TikTok Shop - Shopee Cs following the increase in logistics costs (postage) imposed on sellers (traders) since May 2026.
This policy has caused complaints from business actors, even triggering some MSMEs to leave the platform and sell independently.
Deputy Minister of MSME Helvi Moraza said that his party was preparing concrete steps to respond to this dynamic, including bringing together all stakeholders in one forum.
"We will gather online platforms, then retailer associations, so that we sit together, including with logistics. We here cannot maintain our respective egos, because MSMEs are clearly the spearhead of poverty alleviation and job creation. And as Mr. Prabowo said, entrepreneurs must also be tolerant, big entrepreneurs must be tolerant," said Helvi in a press conference at the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2026 at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 5.
Helvi emphasized that his party did not want the business policies taken by the platform to suppress small business actors. He said, the approach taken was to build an ecosystem that mutually strengthens business actors from the ultra-micro to large scale.
Moreover, said Helvi, the vision of his ministry is to maintain the sustainability of the MSME ecosystem. He carries the concept of a chain collaboration, in which large business actors must provide space for smaller business actors to grow.
"Our concept is that the big one raises the middle, the middle raises the small, and the small raises the micro," he explained.
According to him, the government is currently in the initial stage of communication with e-commerce platforms to discuss the best solution. The next meeting involving the Minister of MSME is scheduled in the near future.
"So, the government does not want anyone to be harmed, whether it is an ultra-micro, micro, small, medium, or large business, because all of them are needed for 8 percent growth," he said.
