JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that various government programs, such as discounts, flexible work policies or work from anywhere (WFA), and social assistance, are strategies to encourage national economic activity during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.

This was conveyed by Airlangga when holding an open house Idulfitri at his residence in the Widya Chandra area, Jakarta, Saturday, March 22.

"We fast for 30 days and the meaning of victory is also related to the economy. The government has made many programs, including discounts, encouraging mobility through work from anywhere, as well as various assistance, such as food assistance and social assistance," said Airlangga, quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 22.

He hopes that these various policies can increase people's mobility and consumption, so that they have a positive impact on national economic growth.

"We hope that this momentum can encourage economic growth in the first quarter to reach 5.5 percent," he said.

Previously, the government had rolled out a number of incentives to encourage community mobility during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026, including through discounts in the transportation sector and toll road tariffs.

The program includes a reduction in travel costs on various modes of transportation, such as planes, trains, sea transport, and land transport, to make it easier for people to travel home.

The government provides discounts on train and sea transport tickets of up to around 30 percent, exemption from crossing service fees, and discounts on air tickets of around 17-18 percent.

The total budget requirement for the transportation incentive program is estimated to be more than Rp. 900 billion, sourced from the State Budget and non-State Budget support.

In addition, the government also distributed food assistance to more than 35 million beneficiary families to maintain people's purchasing power. The assistance is in the form of basic needs packages, such as rice and cooking oil, which are distributed for two months.

On the same occasion, Airlangga also conveyed Eid greetings to the public and reminded of potential global challenges, especially related to fluctuations in oil prices.

"Happy Eid al-Fitr, please forgive me for being born and dying. We also need to be aware of potential unrest, including the oil crisis in the future," he said.

The event was also attended by a number of figures, including PT Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie, industry figure Ilham Habibie, Golkar Party cadres, and members of the Indonesian Wushu General Board.
