JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo emphasized that there was no compromise on the condition of damaged and potholed roads that were still found at a number of points on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road.

Dody added that the repairs were carried out intensively through coordination between the Ministry of PU, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk.

The handling has been carried out since March 10, 2026 with the method of Scrapping, Filling and Overlay (SFO) and rapid handling (patching) at points that require immediate handling.

"I ask BPJT and all BUJT not to compromise in handling road conditions on the Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road. Do special monitoring, acceleration of work and multi-level checks at every point," said Dody as quoted from an official statement, Thursday, March 19.

Dody also instructed strict supervision through road inspectors at each section with a monitoring coverage of around 10 to 30 kilometers, who are required to report on road conditions every day as a basis for quick action.

According to Dody, the monitoring system aims to ensure that damage is handled early so that it does not develop into a risk of endangering road users.

BPJT Head Wilan Oktavian said that his party was intensively monitoring the progress of repairs ahead of Lebaran H-10.

"We are intensively monitoring the progress of handling on the Jakarta-Tangerang section so that all work is carried out according to safety standards and road user services," he said.

Meanwhile, Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono said that repairs had been carried out at dozens of priority points.

"Until March 16, 2026, the Jasa Marga Group has handled dozens of points on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road. Large-scale work was temporarily stopped ahead of the homecoming, while rapid handling was still carried out," he explained.

In addition to road repairs, Jasa Marga also carries out routine maintenance including painting road markings, repairing guardrails, and improving other safety facilities.

The Jakarta-Tangerang toll road has a strategic role as the main route connecting DKI Jakarta to the Banten and Sumatra regions, so that its handling becomes a priority during the homecoming period.

The government also appeals to road users to remain vigilant, maintain a safe distance, and comply with signs and instructions from officers in the field to maintain safety during travel.
