JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that Indonesia does not import fuel oil products (BBM) from the Middle East.
He said Indonesia only imports crude oil from the Middle East by 20 percent of total imports. As for fuel, the government imports from Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.
"So, the crude oil is 20 percent from the Middle East. The rest we get from Angola, Nigeria, Brazil, then some from America, some from Malaysia," said Bahlil in the plenary cabinet session at the State Palace, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 14.
Bahlil reported that the current fuel needs such as solar can be met from within the country. According to him, this is supported by the biodiesel blending program and the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project has been operational.
He said that Indonesian fuel products that are still imported from other countries are only gasoline. The supply is obtained from Malaysia and Singapore.
Furthermore, Bahlil said that in the future Indonesia must begin to develop refineries for production in the country.
"This gasoline we import partly from Malaysia, partly from Singapore. Well, in the future there is no other way, we have to develop our refineries, our refineries for us to produce domestically," he said.
Meanwhile, Bahlil ensured that the national fuel and LPG reserves were in a safe condition ahead of the holiday period.
Current stockpiles of various types of fuel are above the minimum national reserve limit set by the government. He emphasized that the public did not need to worry about energy availability.
Non-subsidized Pertamax gasoline with RON 92 has a reserve of around 28 days, far above the minimum limit of 11 days. For higher octane fuels such as Pertamax Turbo or RON 98, the reserve even reaches around 31 days.
For the type of subsidized solar fuel, the national reserve was recorded at around 16.41 days, which also exceeded the minimum limit set. Meanwhile, non-subsidized solar has a reserve of up to around 46 days.
