BPJS Employment continues to strengthen a community-based approach in expanding employment social security protection for informal workers. Through collaboration with community communities such as mosques and RT/RW neighborhood managers, BPJS Employment seeks to reach workers to the nearest neighborhoods where they live and carry out their daily activities.

This commitment is shown through the symbolic handover of BPJS Employment membership cards to informal workers in the Eramas 2000 Housing, East Jakarta, which was carried out directly by the President Director of BPJS Employment Saiful Hidayat, as well as the handover of Death Benefit (JKM) to three heirs of participants who died.

"Through this activity, we want to ensure that employment social security services are not only available at service offices, but also directly present in the community through the pick-up ball approach so that more workers can be protected," said Saiful, in a statement, Tuesday, March 10.

According to him, the community approach is an important strategy because many informal workers are very close to social environments such as neighbors, traders, neighborhood managers, and other community communities.

"Often without us realizing it, the people around us are still vulnerable and have not been protected by the employment social security program. Therefore, worker protection can start from the nearest environment by reminding each other and inviting more workers to be protected," he explained.

He added that communities such as RT/RW neighborhoods and activities at mosques are important nodes in reaching workers more broadly.

"Through communities such as mosques and RT/RW, we can build a common awareness that worker protection is a common need. With this approach, it is expected that more workers will understand the importance of labor social security," added Saiful.

The compensation provided is the Death Guarantee compensation of Rp. 42 million each to the heirs of the late Drs. Suswoyo from the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Duren Sawit District, the late Hadi Alamsyah, the manager of the RT/RW of Pondok Kelapa Village, and the late Ratna, a trader.

The activity as a form of the state to workers was also attended by the Mayor of East Jakarta M. Anwar, BPJS Employment Supervisory Board Member Swartoko and Alif Noeriyanto Rahman, Director of General Membership Nugroho, Director of Service Trisna Sonjaya, Head of the Regional Office of BPJS Employment DKI Jakarta Deny Yuslian, and Head of the Branch Office of BPJS Employment Jakarta Buaran Muhammad Romdhoni, along with community leaders, mosque managers, and local RT and RW managers.

Saiful also invited workers to take advantage of government policies that provide relief for participants who are not wage earners.

"The government has provided a 50 percent reduction in premiums for the Work Accident and Death Guarantee programs for BPU participants through PP Number 50 of 2025. This momentum is expected to be used by workers to obtain protection with affordable premiums but the benefits are very large," he said.

Meanwhile, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the East Jakarta City Government, Fauzi, appreciated the steps of BPJS Employment which partnered with the community as a gateway to expanding protection for workers.

"The East Jakarta government has a moral responsibility to ensure that its people are better protected in the future. We appreciate the approach of BPJS Employment through communities such as mosques and RT/RW neighborhoods. Hopefully this collaboration will continue to expand so that more workers are protected and community welfare can increase and can become a role model for other regions," he said.

In line with this, the Chairman of the DKM Masjid Al Akbar, Deden Edi Soetrisna, conveyed that the mosque's management also encouraged social security protection for community servants in the mosque environment by involving imams, marbots, teachers of the Koran, and RT and RW devices in the BPJS Employment program for Non-Wage Recipients (BPU). This step is expected to be an inspiration so that the mosque is not only a center for worship, but also a center for social services for the community.
