Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Opened Free during Eid Homecoming, Here's the Progress

JAKARTA - The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) ensures that the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road, the Ambarawa-JC Bawen Junction (SS) segment, will be opened functionally during the 2026 Lebaran period. This step was taken to reduce vehicle density during the period of homecoming and return to Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 H.

The SS Ambarawa-JC Bawen segment has a total length of 4.98 kilometers (km). The plan is for limited or functional operations to be carried out from JC Sleman to JC Sleman.

"In order to support community mobility during the 1447 H/Lebaran 2026 Idulfitri period, BPJT together with the Toll Road Business Entity has prepared the operation of a functional lane on the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Section 6 (SS Ambarawa-JC Bawen)," wrote BPJT management in its official Instagram account @pupr_bpjt, quoted Thursday, March 5.

The operational scheme of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road segment of the Ambarawa-JC Bawen Junction (SS) will use Lane A (left) one way and is only intended for Group I vehicles other than buses.

On the return flow, vehicles from Solo are directed out through the Bawen Toll Gate (GT) to off-ramp 4 SS Ambarawa. Meanwhile, on the return flow, vehicles will be directed to enter from Ambarawa through off-ramp 1 SS Ambarawa to Bawen.

"Engineering opens and closes functional lanes according to the density and length of the queue and based on police discretion," said BPJT.

Regarding the construction progress, Section 6 (SS Ambarawa - JC Bawen) which will be opened for functional use has now reached 89.93 percent. Meanwhile, Section 1 (JC Sleman - SS Banyurejo) is now progressing to 89.23 percent.

As for Sections 2-5, such as the Borobudur area to Ambarawa, they are still in the land release phase.

As a form of support for the smooth operation of the toll road, PT Jasamarga Jogja Bawen as the BUJT prepared standby officers to anticipate technical disruptions during the functional operational period.

Then, prepare operational vehicles and competent personnel who are ready to support operations and handling emergency conditions and ensure the availability and functionality of traffic signs, temporary road markings, street lighting, safety barriers and other safety equipment.

"Toll road users are urged to comply with traffic arrangements, follow the instructions of officers in the field and remain cautious while crossing functional lanes," he added.
