JAKARTA - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has ensured that coal supplies for steam power plants (PLTU) owned by PT PLN (Persero) are in a safe condition.

This statement follows the reduction of the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) and the plan to adjust coal production in 2026.

"For PLN's needs, I have ensured that until March, April, no issue. Because we continue to follow the development of coal needs for PLN," said Bahlil to the media at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Tuesday, March 3.

According to him, currently the government is arranging domestic coal production so that the price in the global market does not experience a decline from time to time.

Moreover, he said, the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy requires that around 30 percent of the total coal production be allocated for domestic needs, including power plants.

"So that we can ensure that the domestic supply guarantee is available, but also the price is good so that entrepreneurs can also get a good price," he continued.

Bahlil again explained that the processing of natural resources must be carried out in a sustainable manner by maintaining the environment.

"We must not do mining indiscriminately without paying attention to good values and a good environment," said Bahlil.
