Coordinating Minister AHY Emphasizes Quality Procurement for Robust and Multifunctional Infrastructure

JAKARTA - The government has emphasized the strengthening of synergy between the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Kemenko IPK) and the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) to ensure the development of quality, reliable, and dual-use national infrastructure.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the quality of planning and procurement was the key to strengthening Indonesia's infrastructure "brand" so that it was not only completed quickly, but also resistant to disaster risks and long-lived.

The government encourages the use of materials that have high durability and take into account the aspect of resilience to Indonesia's natural conditions.

In the procurement process, the government also emphasized the bias on domestic production and the involvement of MSMEs so that infrastructure development would have a wider economic impact.

"The success of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, which is used as a landing site for F-16 fighter jets, is considered as concrete evidence of careful planning and quality procurement," he said.

He added that road infrastructure is considered to have a multipurpose function, not only for logistics and human mobility, but also to support emergency needs, disaster management, to the national defense posture.

"This multi-functional approach is considered to increase the efficiency of state spending while strengthening national competitiveness and resilience in the long term," concluded AHY.
