RI-US Cooperation on Peace of Border is Not Related to Israel Conflict

JAKARTA - PASBATA Chairman Prabowo, David Febrian, emphasized that the decision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to join the Peace of Border cooperation with the United States is a step of peace diplomacy and global stability, not a form of Indonesia's partiality to certain geopolitical conflicts.

David assessed that the emergence of a narrative that says Indonesia supports Israel as an effort to lead an opinion that is unfounded and has the potential to disrupt political stability and public confidence.

"This issue is deliberately twisted. In fact, the Peace of Border is not a military alliance and is not related to support for illegal occupation. This is purely a diplomatic cooperation for security and humanitarianism," said David, Monday (2/2).

He explained that Indonesia's involvement actually strengthened the national bargaining position in global forums, especially in advocating the principles of international law, the protection of civilians, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

According to David, Indonesia's consistent support for Palestinian independence is constitutional and unchanging. Efforts to build a narrative to the contrary are considered risky for creating political uncertainty that can impact investor perceptions and international relations.

"Stability of diplomacy is part of the foundation of the economy. Indonesia chooses active leadership on the global stage to safeguard national interests," he said.

PASBATA appeals to the public to be critical and not easily provoked by issues that can break national unity.
