BPS Records Coal Exports 2025 Down 19.7 Percent

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the value of coal exports from January to December 2025 decreased.

BPS Distribution and Services Statistics Deputy Ateng Hartono said that total exports were recorded at US$ 24.48 billion, or a decline of 19.70 percent compared to the same period last year which reached US$ 30.49 billion.

He explained that the decline was triggered by the weakening of coal prices in the global market during the period.

"Especially for the price of coal commodities and palm oil have decreased, both month to month (monthly) and year on year (annual)," he said in a press conference, Monday, February 2.

Apart from the value, BPS also reported cumulatively, the export volume from January to December 2025 decreased 3.66 percent year-on-year to 390.93 million tons, compared to the same period last year of 405.76 million tons.

Meanwhile, the achievement of coal exports throughout 2025 has also not reached the target set by the government. Previously, the government targeted coal exports of 650 million tons in 2025.
