JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that the process of importing fuel for private Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) is already underway.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung said that if this process has been running, then the private SPBU business entity can import fuel.

"This one, if it's for import permits, the process is already underway. That was yesterday, the private gas station should have been able to carry it out," Yuliot told the media, Friday, January 30.

He added, after the import recommendation was issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the import process could be carried out by itself or through cooperation with PT Pertamina (Persero).

"If you haven't gotten a source, it's working with Pertamina," he added.

However, he ensured that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as a technical ministry would continue to synergize to hold a good fuel for Pertamina and for private gas stations.

For information, fuel shortages still occur at private gas stations such as Shell Indonesia.

President Director & Managing Director of Shell Indonesia's Mobility, Ingrid Siburian said that until now his party is still continuing to coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the import quota for fuel.

"Shell Indonesia would like to inform that we continue to coordinate with the government regarding the request for a recommendation for the import of fuel oil (BBM) in 2026 in accordance with the applicable procedures," Ingrid told the media, Friday, January 30.

Ingrid said, Shell Indonesia appreciates the government's support in carrying out the business activities of providing fuel so that it can distribute various types of quality fuel products through partners.

"We believe that the availability of fuel products in the Shell gas station network can meet the needs of customers and contribute to the country's economy," explained Ingrid.

Previously, Shell supplied 100,000 barrels of pure base fuel from Pertamina to fill the gap since August 2025.
