JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita revealed that thousands of small and medium industries (IKM) were affected by the flash floods in Sumatra at the end of November 2025. The majority operate in Aceh Province.

Based on data collected as of January 23, 2026, the affected IKM in Aceh reached 1,960 units. This number makes Aceh the most affected region of the three provinces affected by flash floods.

"Based on the recapitulation data that we received in the region until January 23, this shows that there are 2,826 small and medium industries affected by disasters in three provinces, with the largest concentration in Aceh province 1,960 IKM, West Sumatra 647 IKM and North Sumatra 217 IKM," said Agus in a Working Meeting with Commission VII of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 26.

He also revealed the most affected IKM sector in the three provinces. The food, furniture and building materials sectors were the most affected with a total of 1,706 units.
