BALIKPAPAN - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that after inaugurating the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP), Pertamina was asked to find a partner to work on the Dumai Refinery RDMP project, Riau.
Bahlil said that he had held a meeting with the board of directors and commissioners of Pertamina and it had been decided that Pertamina would immediately partner with the private sector to start the Dumai RDMP project.
"We are not only here, we will develop for storage and other RDMP capacities such as in Dumai," Bahlil told the media, quoted on Tuesday, January 13.
He explained that the reason for partnering with the private sector was to create a symbiosis of mutualism so that it was beneficial for Pertamina, the private sector, and the government.
"What is the goal? Pertamina can make a profit, the country has energy security, the private sector can also get good cooperation, which is mutually beneficial," continued Bahlil.
For information, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated the Balikpapan Integrated Energy Infrastructure Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) on Monday, January 12.
This project, which absorbs an investment of around IDR 123 trillion, is the largest RDMP project in Indonesia. This program is able to increase the production of the Balikpapan Refinery to 360,000 barrels per day, from the previous 260,000 barrels
RDMP Balikpapan itself has reached several important milestones related to the completion of units and supporting facilities, including a Single Point Mooring (SPM) or floating dock for mooring facilities for giant crude oil carriers. In addition, the main refinery facilities, namely the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC). The CDU facility is a crude oil processing unit with a distillation process, while RFCC is capable of converting residues into high-value products.
Another part of the RDMP is the construction of two new Lawe-lawe giant crude oil storage tanks with a capacity of 1 million barrels each.
This project is also integrated with the Senipah - Balikpapan Gas Pipeline along 78 kilometers which will flow the supply of energy raw materials into the refinery. Meanwhile, the Tanjung Batu Fuel Terminal has a capacity of 125,000 kiloliters which can serve the distribution of fuel for eastern Indonesia.
