JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, targets the Blangkejeren-Kutacane Road to connect Gayo Lues Regency with South Aceh Regency to be fully passable in the next 1-2 days.
Dody revealed that currently the national road section can only be passed through in a limited manner because there is still a lot of land around it after the flood at the end of November 2025.
This was conveyed by Dody in the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the DPR RI Disaster Recovery Task Force with the Government, monitored online on the Parliament TV YouTube, Saturday, January 10, 2026.
"The Blangkejeren-Kutacane route has been completed (handled), but it is still (passed) limited because there is still a lot of land there."
"So, hopefully, maybe a day or two days from now it can be smoother," said Dody.
Previously, the PU Ministry said that the central cross-national route in Aceh Province was reconnected starting Friday, January 9, 2026.
The Minister of PU explained that as of January 7, 2026, most strategic sections in the central cross of Aceh had been reconnected and functional, both permanently and through emergency handling, such as the installation of bailey bridges and diversion to alternative routes.
A number of major roads have been reconnected, including the Bireuen City-Bireuen/Bener Meriah border, the Central Aceh border/Nagan Raya-Lhok Seumot-Jeuram, the Genting Gate-Celala-Central Aceh border/Nagan Raya, and the Central Aceh border/Gayo Lues-Blangkejeren.
In addition, the Batas Gayo Lues/South Aceh-Kota Kutacane section to the Kota Kutacane-Batas North Sumatra Province section can also be passed.
"This accelerated handling is focused on reopening land transportation access as the main channel for community mobility and logistics distribution," Dody said in a written statement, Thursday, January 8, 2026.
There are also several other sections that are still being handled, including the Blangkejeren-Batas Gayo Lues/South Aceh section, which had experienced a landslide in early January 2026 and is currently being handled with a target of returning to function on January 9, 2026.
Then, the Batas Aceh Tengah/Nagan Raya - Lhok Seumot - Jeuram section was tested for load on the bailey bridge that had been installed.
