JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has cleaned mud and flood debris at educational facilities affected by the disaster in North Aceh. This step was taken to accelerate the recovery of the school environment as well as support the smooth running of learning activities after the disaster.

This action is in line with the efforts of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) which targets that affected schools in North Aceh can resume operations in early January 2026.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that cleaning educational facilities was one of the priorities in the initial recovery phase, considering that schools are a vital means for the continuation of children's education after disasters.

"BNI is trying to be present through real actions in the field. The cleaning of schools from mud and flood debris is expected to accelerate the recovery of the learning environment so that educational activities can resume immediately," Okki said in a written statement.

In its implementation, BNI synergized with the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) through the BUMN Peduli program entitled One Heart for Sumatra under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia. Various facilities and resources were deployed to support the process of cleaning and handling the impact of flooding in a coordinated manner.

The educational facilities that are the focus of this activity are the State Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIN) or State Islamic Elementary School 33 North Aceh. To support the cleaning process, BNI deployed heavy equipment in the form of excavators, dump trucks, water tankers, and involved field workers.

This activity is part of BNI's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program which will continue to be implemented on an ongoing basis according to field needs, including further cleaning, renovation of facilities, and repair of school support facilities.

"We hope that this support can help recreate a safe and comfortable school environment, so that students and educators can return to normal activities," said Okki.

Through synergy with various stakeholders, BNI emphasizes its commitment to continue to contribute to disaster management as well as supporting the social and educational recovery of affected communities.
