JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang has signed a Participating Interest (PI) Transfer Agreement of 10 percent of the Jambi Merang Work Area (WK) to PT Sumsel Energi Merang (SEM).
The signing of the agreement took place in Jakarta, Monday, December 29, 2025. SEM is a subsidiary of the Regional Owned Business Entity (BUMD) PT Sumsel Energi Gemilang (SEG) owned by the South Sumatra Provincial Government.
The transfer of PI 10 percent is part of fulfilling the provisions of laws and regulations in the upstream oil and gas sector, as well as encouraging increased economic benefits for the region.
Director of PT PHE Jambi Merang, Muhamad Arifin, said the transfer of PI 10 percent of WK Jambi Merang was carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and reflected the company's commitment to supporting the role of the region in managing the national upstream oil and gas.

Assistant II for Economic Finance and Regional Development of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, Basyaruddin Akhmad, said that the appreciation for the realization of the transfer of PI 10 percent of WK Jambi Merang to BUMD South Sumatra.
"This PI is awaited in a fully efficient condition, to move the regional economy. It is hoped that the next process can be completed, namely at the SKK Migas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. This PI has been included in the 2026 budget plan," said Basyaruddin.
After the signing of the PI transfer agreement, the next step is to submit an application for approval to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Special Working Unit for the Implementation of Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), in accordance with applicable regulations.
