JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), the International Regional subsidiary of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Subholding Upstream, carried out the first shipment or first lifting of crude oil of 1 million barrels to Indonesia from Port Arzew, Oran, Algeria.
This first shipment is the first production under the extension of the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) of Block 405A, which ensures the sustainability of Pertamina's operations in Algeria for the next 25 years.
Pertamina's strategic partnership with Sonatrach began in the period 2002 to 2003 through annual contracts, continued with the flexibility of spot transactions in 2006 to 2013, until entering a phase of significant expansion since 2014 through the acquisition of the management rights of Menzel Lejmat (MLN).
Ahead of the lifting, the two companies signed a Lifting Service Contract on December 22, 2025 at Sonatrach's Head Office. The signing was carried out by the President Director of Pertamina Algeria EP (PAEP) Jon Erwin and Sonatrach's VP of Commercialization Mr. Mayouf Belgacem.
PIEP President Director Syamsu Yudha said this achievement was an important milestone in strengthening Pertamina's position as an international oil and gas player.

Meanwhile, PIEP President Commissioner Dharmawan H. Samsu added that the success of this first shipment was the result of a long process of diplomacy and negotiation.
"The first shipment of cargo of 1 million barrels to Indonesia confirms the strategic value of the extension of Block 405A for the next 25 years. This is a major achievement after going through an intense contract negotiation process," he explained.
