JAKARTA - The construction of the East Central Axis Road (PTT) or Puncak II Road will continue in 2026 to strengthen regional connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the Puncak tourist area.
Bogor Regency Regional Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika said the continuation of the construction was part of the continuity of strategic projects that had been prioritized by the Bogor Regency Government since the beginning.
"The Bogor Regency Government has consistently made Jalan Puncak II or PTT a priority and strategic project. In 2026, construction will continue with the support of the West Java Provincial Government," said Ajat, quoted by Antara.
Jalan Puncak II is located in the Bogor and Cianjur Regency areas, West Java, which connects the Sentul area with the Cipanas Palace and is integrated with the Transyogi section in the Cariu area.
According to Ajat, the road section was designed to improve the regional road network that connects Bogor Regency, Cianjur Regency, Bekasi Regency, and Karawang Regency, as well as facilitating access across West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten.
In addition to reducing congestion in the Puncak area, the construction of the PTT is also directed to open the isolation of the East Bogor area. Planning data shows that the average Human Development Index (HDI) of the sub-districts on the PTT track is below the average Bogor Regency, with Sukamakmur Sub-district recording the lowest HDI of 65.94.
The planning document notes that the construction of Jalan PTT/Puncak II has the potential to increase travel efficiency by up to 16 percent, with a target of reducing the level of congestion in the Puncak area by 50 percent.
The PTT/Puncak II Road Section has a total length of 56.25 kilometers which is divided into two initial construction phases, namely Sentul-Sukahraja-Istana Cipanas along 39 kilometers and Sukahraja-Bantarkuning (Cariu) along 17.25 kilometers.
The estimated budget needs for development based on the 2021 calculation reached more than IDR 4.7 trillion, with the STA 0+000-STA 16+450 segment distribution of IDR 1.6 trillion, STA 16+450-STA 32+000 of IDR 1.2 trillion, and STA 32+000-STA 56+250 of IDR 1.9 trillion.
Ajat said the limited fiscal capacity of the region made the development of Puncak II require financing support from the provincial government, the central government, and private participation.
In the planning, Phase I Sentul to Simpang Cibadak was developed through private participation with land acquisition by the Bogor Regency Government, while Phase II Sukahraja to Sukamakmur was prepared through regional land procurement and physical development by the provincial government.
The PTT/Puncak II Road Section has also been designated as a Strategic Area of the Regency from the point of view of economic growth interests as regulated in the Bogor Regency Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 concerning RTRW.
In terms of permits, Ajat said the Ministry of Environment and Forestry had issued approval for the use of forest areas for the construction of the PTT/Puncak II Road with an area of 51.27 hectares.
Meanwhile, a number of initial works have been carried out, including the construction of the Pancakarsa Monument as the zero point, TNI TMMD activities in several segments, construction of access by the private sector, and road paving on the Sentul-Cibadak section.
"With the continuation of construction in 2026, Jalan Puncak II is expected to be a long-term solution to the Puncak congestion while encouraging the growth of the East Bogor area," said Ajat.
