JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS) and Dart Energy (Tanjung Enim) Pte. Ltd collaborate in the plan to utilize gas supplies from the development of coalbed methane (CBM) gas fields from the Tanjung Enim Working Area, South Sumatra.
This cooperation is marked by the signing of a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) where Dart Energy will supply CBM to PGN. This initiative will add alternative supply sources, while strengthening energy resilience through the utilization of previously unoptimized gas potential.
Sub Coordinator for the Preparation of the Non-Conventional Oil and Gas Working Area of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Firdaus Wajdi, said the government appreciated PGN and Dart Energy for achieving this PJBG and making Tanjung Enim a National Strategic Project.
"Hopefully, through PJBG, the distribution of gas from Tanjung Enim will be timely to meet the industry, increase local economic growth and become a best practice for the utilization of CBM that contributes significantly to energy sovereignty," said Firdaus, Thursday, December 18.
PGN Human Resources and Business Support Director Rachmat Hutama said that PGN's support and efforts have also realized the utilization of CBM which will be integrated with available infrastructure, both through pipeline networks and beyond pipelines.
"With PGN's experience and capabilities in managing integrated infrastructure, it is expected to bridge the gas source to be optimally utilized by customers," he continued.
Meanwhile, NuEnergy Gas CEO Lim Beng Hong assessed CBM as a new chapter in the utilization of energy in Indonesia.
He said that this cooperation supports the use of cleaner energy in line with the energy transition towards net zero emissions by 2060, optimizing domestic energy sources. And opens the potential of CBM as a new resource to meet the balance of supply and demand for national energy. NuEnergy Gas is the parent company of Dart Energy.
Lim added that they saw this cooperation as more than a gas purchase but a strategic partnership and were ready for further cooperation in the future.
