JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has sent KMP Jatra I as the third ship deployed to support the distribution of assistance for affected communities in Sumatra. A total of 44 tons of logistical assistance were carried in this voyage.

ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said the assistance consisted of food, drinking water, clothing, and other emergency supplies from the community, 18 partners and stakeholders.

Covering BNPB, ministries and agencies, SOEs, social institutions, foundations, communities, and internal support for ASDP. This assistance will then be distributed to a number of affected areas, especially Belawan, Lhokseumawe, and Sibolga.

"We would like to thank all parties who have collaborated and given confidence to ASDP. Every assistance entrusted is a great trust for us to ensure that it can be distributed well, safely, and accurately to affected communities," said Heru in an official statement, Wednesday, December 17.

Meanwhile, ASDP Corporate Secretary, Windy Andale explained that the KMP Jatra I not only transported logistics assistance, but also carried 20 mixed vehicles and 60 passengers.

"The passengers consist of humanitarian volunteers, relief vehicle drivers, and supporting personnel who will be directly involved in the process of distributing aid in the field," said Windy.

Windy said that after the ship had been lifted from the pier, KMP Jatra I would first refuel before continuing the voyage according to the established route.

Throughout the journey, ASDP ensured that all aspects of the ship's service and operations ran optimally by prioritizing maritime safety.

"The safety of the crew, volunteers, and cargo is the top priority so that humanitarian aid can arrive and be distributed smoothly and safely," said Windy.

Windy said that ASDP had also previously deployed KMP Jatra II to transport various basic necessities and heavy equipment in the form of seven excavators and two dump trucks from Sibolga to Teluk Bayur.

Then followed by the operation of KMP Aceh Hebat II which supports the distribution of LPG on the Ulee Lheue-Krueng Geukueh route, to ensure energy availability for the people of Aceh.

Through this series of sustainable steps, ASDP hopes that all the assistance provided can help alleviate the burden of affected people while accelerating the post-disaster recovery process.

"As a national crossing operator, ASDP is committed to continuing to be present to maintain the smooth distribution of assistance and ensure that every humanitarian effort can reach those in need," he said.
