JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), a national construction and investment company under the auspices of Danantara Indonesia, continues to show its commitment in supporting the handling of emergencies and the recovery of post-disaster infrastructure after the hydrometeorological disaster that hit Aceh and North Sumatra provinces.
From the first day of the incident, PTPP focused all efforts on one main principle: maintaining the safety of residents and restoring vital access to the community as quickly and safely as possible.
As part of this rapid response, PTPP deployed more than 46 field personnel supported by various heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, 60-ton cranes, dump trucks, and chainsaws. All of these resources were deployed to the most affected points in both provinces to ensure that handling work could run in parallel and effectively.
The damage to infrastructure in Aceh is quite complex and widespread. On the Bireuen - Bener Meriah - Takengon section along 103 kilometers, access is cut off due to the destruction of the Teupin Mane Bridge as well as a number of other bridges, including the Enang-Enang Bridge, Weihni Rongka, Weihni Rongka II, Jamur Ujung, and Alue Kulus. In addition, large landslides occurred at several points, namely STA 15+700, 19+800, 22+100, and 49+000.
In this emergency, PTPP completed the installation of a Bailey bridge as an emergency bridge to replace the Teupin Mane bridge within 12 days, while this bridge is an important route connecting Bireuen Regency with Bener Meriah Regency, Takengon, and the central area of Aceh.
This access is vital for the mobility of people and goods between regions such as the results of vegetable and fruit plantations. This bridge is also part of an important land route connecting Medan (North Sumatra) and Banda Aceh (Aceh) through Bireuen. The recovery of the bridge means that intercity / interprovincial connectivity is functioning again.
Meanwhile, on the main section of Aceh Tamiang - Medan, two landslide points with a total length of around 405 meters have been handled through excavation, cleaning of landslide material, and the formation of a temporary path. PTPP ensures that this path can be used again in two directions gradually from 5-15 December 2025.
In North Sumatra Province, the handling is focused on a number of strategic routes, including Batas Aceh-Saragih-Manduamas-Barus, Sibolga-Barus, Tarutung-Sipirok, to Padang Sidempuan. There are 11 landslide points and several bridges affected, including the Aek Sibundong Bridge which is an important access between regions.
All locations are currently in the stage of cleaning materials, excavations, burial, road body fireplaces, and slope protection to ensure that connectivity is stable and safe again, both for the community and for logistics vehicles. Significant progress has been seen in a number of points, such as STA 12+400, STA 4+400, Hajoran area, and the Sibolga-Sorkam-Barus section, thanks to the implementation of parallel field work.
PTPP Corporate Secretary, Joko Raharjo, emphasized that all efforts were carried out with full responsibility and empathy.
"We understand that infrastructure is not just roads and bridges. This is access for people to return home, go to school, find a livelihood, and get help. Therefore, the PTPP team is working tirelessly in the field so that the main roads can return to functioning safely," said Joko, in his statement, Tuesday, December 16.
PTPP's emergency response and infrastructure recovery efforts in Aceh and North Sumatra are part of the Company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program. Through this program, PTPP is committed to being actively present in emergency situations, helping to restore basic access that supports people's lives, ranging from evacuation routes, logistics distribution, to citizen mobility to return to activities safely.
"We believe that the recovery of infrastructure is the initial foundation for the community to rise and move again. PTPP will continue to be present, work, and accompany this recovery process until it is completed," concluded Joko.
