Jasa Marga Boss Ensures Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi Toll, which was Temporarily Displaced, has been Reopened

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) Rivan Achmad Purwantono ensures that the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi Toll Road (MKTT) point, namely at KM 41+600 B, which collapsed some time ago, has now been reopened.

Rivan said that his party had finalized one of the points on the toll road that had collapsed due to the Sumatra flash flood at the end of November 2025.

"So, for (toll affected) disasters there is only in Medan. But, we will make sure that yesterday, December 14, we have finalized it, so today it has been reopened," said Rivan when met by reporters after the Integrated Apel of Jasa Marga Operational Standby for Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 at TMII, Jakarta, Monday, December 15.

Rivan ensured that the collapse of one point on the MKTT toll road was due to damage to the KM 41+600 B bridge as a result of flash floods.

"So, there was damage about 5 meters before the bridge and it was confirmed that it was functioning yesterday," he said.

According to Rivan, the toll road point that had collapsed would be tested for operation today.

English:

Thus, he continued, the toll road can still be used to support community mobility during the 2025 Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru 2025/2026).

"Today it will be tried to be operationalized, so that in the future there will be no more obstacles. From all (toll roads such as) Belmera (Belawan-Medan-Tanjung Morawa), Kualanamu, it has functioned well," he concluded.

Previously, one of the points of the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi Toll Road (MKTT) was precisely at KM 41+600 B in the Deli Serdang Regency area, North Sumatra.

The collapse of one of the toll road points was caused by heavy rain that hit the Deli Serdang area, thus increasing the flow of Sei Batu Gingging water and eroding the foundation of the road embankment.

Responding to the incident, Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo asked the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) or the operator, in this case PT Jasamarga Kualanamu Toll, to temporarily close the affected lane.

"As an emergency measure, the PU Ministry has asked BUJT to immediately take quick action, including temporarily closing the affected lanes, securing the location, inspecting the bridge structure, arranging water flow and mobilizing heavy equipment," said Dody, quoted Saturday, November 29.

Dody said that his party continued to coordinate through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), PT Jasamarga Kualanamu Toll and the National Police to ensure that traffic flows remain under control during handling.

Based on coordination in the field, traffic engineering is needed which will start on Friday, November 28, 2025 until it is declared safe.

Traffic engineering is carried out by closing the Medan direction lane at KM 43 B and diverting traffic out through the Paluh Kemiri and Kualanamu Toll Gates.

Then, the closure of the Tebing Tinggi direction at KM 6 A and the diversion of outgoing traffic through the Lubuk Pakam Toll Gate.
