Government Removes KUR Debt For Farmers Affected By Floods In Sumatra, Airlangga: Regulations Don't Exist

JAKARTA - The government has ensured that all People's Business Credit (KUR) debts for flood-affected farmers in Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (West Sumatra) will be removed.

This policy was carried out to ease the burden on farmers affected by the disaster.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the amount of KUR bleaching is currently still in the process of being checked.

"(The amount of bleaching of KUR Farmers). Later we will check the numbers," he told the media crew, Thursday, December 11.

Although the total value of the Farmer's KUR bleaching is known, Airlangga said the related regulations have not been prepared so the realization is waiting for official regulations.

"It's already there, but later because the regulations have not been made," he explained.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said that the abolition of farmers' KUR debts was the focus of President Prabowo Subianto and this step was taken to ease the burden on farmers affected by the disaster.

Currently, he said, the government is still collecting data so it is not yet known how much KUR value will be deleted.

"Nature disasters are of course all those whose debts are borrowed are deleted because of natural disasters, especially the President, he is very concerned about agriculture," he said at the BIG Conference 2025 event in Jakarta, Monday, December 8.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said the president not only deleted KUR but also repaired the affected agricultural infrastructure. Both irrigation and dams.

"That irrigation will be repaired, the dam will be repaired, and the agricultural KUR-KUR will all be removed," he said.

Di samping itu, Zulhas juga memastikan pemerintah terus menggelontorkan cadangan pangan ke Aceh, Sumatera Utara, dan Sumatera Barat.

“Dua hari yang lalu ya, itu di Sumatra Utara hampir 9.000 ton, di Aceh 5.000 hingga 6.000 ton, di Sumatera Barat kira-kira 6.000 hingga 7.000 ton, dan beberapa juta liter minyak goreng,” katanya.

Zulhas mengaku sudah meminta Perum Bulog agar distribusi pangan ke wilayah terdampak bencana dapat ditingkatkan dua kali lipat.

“Sekarang alhamdulillah sudah mulai lancar, apakah dari di Sumatera Utara, di Aceh, di Sumatera Barat,” ucap Zulhas.

In addition, Zulhas also ensured that the government would continue to pour food reserves into Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"Two days ago, yes, in North Sumatra almost 9,000 tons, in Aceh 5,000 to 6,000 tons, in West Sumatra approximately 6,000 to 7,000 tons, and several million liters of cooking oil," he said.

Zulhas admitted that he had asked Perum Bulog to double the distribution of food to disaster-affected areas.

"Now thank God it has started smoothly, whether from North Sumatra, in Aceh, in West Sumatra," said Zulhas.
