"The plan is that we will supply agreement with them a total of five million doses, with the first vaccine about 3 million doses that will come around July-September and the remaining 2 million doses will come in the fourth quarter of 2021," he said in a hearing meeting with Commission VI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta, Tuesday.

CanSino vaccine is one of two types of vaccines that have been approved for use in the Gotong Royong Vaccination program initiated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). In addition to CanSino, Sinopharm, also a Chinese production, is used in self-vaccination programs.

Honesti explained that unlike Sinopharm which requires two doses, the CanSino vaccine only requires one injection. Currently, the permit for emergency use authorization (EUA) of CanSino vaccine is taking place at the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

"We hope that this June has come out of the EUA and can be vaccinated after the vaccine comes to Indonesia," he said.

The government hopes the national vaccination program can reach the number of one million injections per day. The covid-19 vaccination is expected to increase people's confidence to re-engage and move the Indonesian economy.

"Together we grow this optimism so that it will strengthen expectations for the Indonesian economy to rebound in 2021 with growth in the range of 4.5 percent to 5.3 percent," he said.
