Minister Budi Karya Talks Transportation System In New Capital, Based On Electric Vehicles?

JAKARTA - The government under the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continues to boost infrastructure development. Because, infrastructure will open connectivity between regions in the country.

In fact, connectivity is considered as the determinant of the development of a city. Including, in this case the new national capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said connectivity supported by an integrated transportation system will be the determinant for the development of an area.

"Transportation becomes a focus because connectivity is the determinant for the development of a city. Smart transportation is an option," he said in a virtual discussion On Tuesday, May 25.

Later, said Budi, the transportation system policy in IKN fully applies the latest and environmentally friendly technologies, such as electric vehicles, trains, to the integration of air transportation through the new airport to be built.

Furthermore, Budi said his party also opens opportunities for the community to contribute to developing the transportation sector in IKN.

"Our new city is a smart city. A city where we learn in a new way of life, a new civilization called IT, digital, something that is no stranger to developed countries. But we are confident that with the capital of this country, we are able to learn and teach all these nations," he said.

Budi said the smart and integrated transportation system implemented in IKN will be a symbol of the advancement of technology and civilization of the Indonesian nation in the international world.

Furthermore, Budi said, the most important part of the plan to move the capital to East Kalimantan is to open connectivity and support even growth not only in Java island.

"The most important thing is that this shows that we are paying attention to indonesia centric is no longer Java centric. We know that with a large population of course the growth will be high on the island of Java. Now we want to move so that we consistently make Indonesia centrist. With the relocation of the capital will grow a new growth," he said.
