Minister Of Public Works: All Disasters Are Usually Due To Human Negligence

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the floods and landslides that occurred in the last few days were usually due to human negligence in protecting God's creation.

This was revealed by Dody at the 2025 Sutami Awards at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Public Works, Jakarta, Monday night, December 1.

"Because how can all these disasters usually be because of ourselves, the humans are negligent about their creations," said Dody.

It is known that Dody's statement responded to the floods and landslides that occurred in Sumatra and Aceh last week.

The incident has also resulted in hundreds of people dying and there are still victims who have not been found so far.

On that occasion, Dody emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto's directive was to prioritize the safety of people affected by floods and landslides.

"Mr. President himself has conveyed the direction very firmly, under conditions like this there are things that are top priorities. One is the safety of citizens, the second is the speed of response in the field," he said.

According to Dody, the Head of State often reminds that collaboration between ministries/agencies continues to be improved and improved.

"He reminded the importance of collaboration between the central, regional, TNI/Polri governments and all relevant technical agencies, including in this case the Ministry of Public Works itself," he said.

Dia pun tak menampik, banyaknya tantangan dan dinamika pembangunan infrastruktur pada hari-hari ini hingga ke depan.

"Kami semua menyadari tantangan serta dinamika pembangunan infrastruktur pada hari ini dan ke depan akan semakin complicated dan kompleks. Di tengah harapan masyarakat yang semakin besar dalam perjanjian infrastruktur lebih berkualitas dan berkelanjutan," terang Dody.

He also did not deny that there are many challenges and dynamics of infrastructure development in these days to the future.

"We are all aware that the challenges and dynamics of infrastructure development today and in the future will be more compacted and complex. In the midst of the expectations of a greater community in a more quality and sustainable infrastructure agreement," explained Dody.
