PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) strengthens operational readiness ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) service period on the Merak "Bakauheni" route by operating Express II ship services.

The strengthening of the service is carried out through field inspections at Pier 1 and cross-agency coordination with BPTD, KSOP, INFA, GAPASDAP, ship operators, as well as Regional ASDP 2 management and Bakauheni Branch. The synergy ensures that the operations of the two Express services can run optimally from the first day.

The preparation for the operation of Express II is carried out through field inspections and intensive coordination at Pier 1 with BPTD, KSOP, INFA, GAPASDAP, ship operators, as well as ASDP Regional 2 management and Merak Branch - Bakauheni Branch. The synergy across stakeholders ensures that Express service operations at the two piers can run optimally from the first day.

Director of Operations and Transformation, Rio Lasse said the service began going live on Monday, December 1, and became an important step in the transformation of ASDP to provide a faster, smoother, and more comfortable journey for service users.

Furthermore, said Rio, Express II services are part of the company's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of the service system.

The operation of Express services through two Piers is not just additional facilities. This is a complete improvement of operational governance so that the rhythm of travel is more stable, fast, and comfortable, especially in the Nataru period," Rio said in an official statement, Monday, December 1.

Rio explained that rearranging of the flow of vehicles and passengers, as well as the integration of the digital check-system, is the key to smoothing the movement of vehicles and minimizing waiting times.

"With the addition of the Express service dock, the ship's frequency is increasing, the load capacity is greater, and service users now have a more flexible choice of schedule," he explained.

In the latest operational scheme at Merak Port and Bakauheni Port, the vehicle is directed to the check-in queue, then the vehicle will be directed to the Express I or Express II service according to the ticket.

"Servict users simply choose the option of 'Service Express' when buying tickets at Ferizy, so that the Express service slot has been confirmed from the start. The inaugural service Express II officially operates on Monday December 1 at 12.00 WIB," he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of ASDP Merak Branch, Umar Imran explained that the separation of vehicle lanes was carried out in such a way as to prevent lane crossings that could potentially hinder the flow of vehicles entering and loading and unloading.

"We designed all field engineering to keep the service fast, safe, and organized. We maintain Merak Coordination of Bakauheni so that the operational rhythm remains in harmony," said Umar.

In addition to vehicles, pedestrian passengers are also directed to the Express I or Express II route after checking-in on the vortex machine.

"This arrangement pattern accelerates the flow of pedestrian passengers and vehicle passengers, as well as minimizes queues," said Umar.

The operation of Express II was also strengthened by the signing of cooperation with ship operators on Customer Gathering activities on November 20, 2025. This step confirms that service improvement is not only carried out by ASDP, but is a comprehensive collaboration between ship operators, association of logistics actors, and transportation regulators.

ASDP Corporate Secretary, Windy Andale, said that all service improvements are carried out by end-to-end

"We carry out simultaneous flow engineering, technical evaluation, and queue arrangement to ensure smooth and safety of travel, especially at the peak of Nataru when passenger volume increases significantly," said Windy.

Windy also appealed to the public to plan an earlier trip via Ferizy. By booking tickets from D-60 to D-1, service users can choose travel time more flexibly and reduce the risk of queues at ports.

With the operation of the Express service through two piers, ASDP is optimistic that the smooth flow of vehicles and passengers on the Merak' Bakauheni track can be maintained despite the surge in travel at the end of the year.

"Preciser flow management, faster check-in processes, and clearer service separation are important foundations for ASDP in realizing a safe, comfortable, and better crossing experience over time," he said.
