JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) ensures that the condition of the availability and distribution of fuel oil (BBM) in the North Sumatra (Sumbagut) region, especially the city of Medan, remains conducive amid extreme weather that hit the North Sumatra region.
Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Bambang Hermanto, said that bad weather had resulted in delays in the cargo ship dock process carrying fuel supplies.
"As we all know, current extreme weather will result in delays in unloading cargo ships. Currently, there are three cargo ships carrying Pertalite and Biosolar supplies are still waiting for the weather to improve so that they can immediately unload," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 27.
BPH Migas' direct visit to the field was carried out to ensure that fuel stocks for the people of Medan and its surroundings were still fulfilled.
"BPH Migas together with Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) are making mitigation efforts in order to maintain fuel resilience and availability in the Sumbagut area, especially in Medan City," he added.
One of the mitigation steps taken by his party is to increase the supply of Dumai Fuel Terminal (FT), FT Lhokseumawe, FT Siantar, and FT Kisaran to meet the needs of Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in the Medan area.
In addition, small ships that were originally scheduled to supply to other areas were diverted to Medan in order to carry out loading and unloading on Belawan's small jetty.
"Of course this is done to maintain fuel resilience in the Medan area," he explained.
While monitoring one of the gas stations located on Jalan KL. Yos Sudarso, Medan City, the man who is often called Baher is seen greeting people who are buying fuel.
Baher ensures that people get good service when filling their fuel, as well as urging them to keep buying fuel as needed so that supplies are maintained.
"We hope that the people in Medan City will remain calm and buy fuel as needed. So, the condition of fuel stock can be maintained for all of us," he said.
BPH Migas also continues to strengthen communication and coordination with the Regional Government to ensure that the distribution of fuel to the community remains smooth and safe.
