Sustainable Infrastructure Development Costs Jumbo, Minister Dody: Not Really

BANDUNG Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said sustainable infrastructure development does not have to cost a lot of money.

According to him, if it is planned carefully from the start and carried out in stages, development can actually be more efficient without sacrificing the quality or sustainability of the environment.

"Actually, the cost is not high either, because from the start it was planned to be efficient. For example, the construction of the toll road, it cannot be completed immediately, but it can be done in stages, from section A to B, then B to C, and so on," said Dody Hanggodo to reporters in Bandung, Tuesday, November 4.

Still, said Dody, sustainable infrastructure development is the main focus of his ministry.

According to President Prabowo Subianto's direction, he continued, the infrastructure projects built must not only function today, but also provide long-term benefits for future generations.

"The infrastructure that we build must be with a sustainable session, not only now but also from previous times," said Dody to reporters in Bandung, Tuesday, November 4.

He also asked his staff to evaluate dam projects, irrigation, toll roads, and road networks that have been built, to ensure their function and sustainability.

Menurut dia, salah satu penekanan penting adalah pada jaringan irigasi.

Banyak bendungan yang telah dibangun, namun belum seluruhnya dilengkapi jaringan irigasi yang efektif, sehingga fungsi utamanya untuk swasembada pangan belum maksimal.

According to him, one of the important emphasis is on irrigation networks.

Many dams have been built, but not all of them are equipped with an effective irrigation network, so their main function for food self-sufficiency has not been maximized.

In addition, Dody emphasized the importance of connectivity between national roads, toll roads, and district or provincial roads.

He emphasized that toll roads should not stand alone without being connected to other road networks.

The reason is, this will hamper the potential development of new industrial estates and connectivity between regions.
