Prabowo Is Ready For Full Responsibility For Thefewsh Project

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the polemic surrounding the Jakarta "Bandung Fast Train (Whoosh) project does not need to be enlarged.

According to him, all responsibilities for the project are under his authority.

"Then don't worry about what a fuss is. I have studied the problem. There is no problem, I will take responsibility for everything," he said at the press conference for the inauguration of Tanah Abang Baru Station, Tuesday, November 4.

Prabowo added that the Government is not oriented towards profit or loss in the provision of public services, because it is also a common practice around the world.

"Indonesia is not just a country, we calculate, there is no problem with that. So PT KAI doesn't have to worry. Everyone doesn't have to worry, we serve our people, we fight for our people, technology, all suggestions are shared responsibility," he said.

Prabowo also emphasized that all public transportation facilities must be used for the benefit of the community, and as President, he bears full responsibility for this.

"In the end, it is the responsibility of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, so I am now the responsibility ofminish," he said.

He added that public transportation services, including high-speed trains, around the world should not be judged solely from the aspect of profit.

"Whoosh is all public transportation around the world, don't count profits, don't count losses, don't count benefits for people around the world, this is called public service obligation," he said.

He added that the Government provides subsidies for the national rail system of around 60 percent, while the community only bears about 20 percent and this is a tangible manifestation of the state's presence.

"All of our trains are subsidized by 60 percent, the people pay 20 percent, yes, this is the presence of this country, the presence of the state," he said.
