JAKARTA The government will present a free homecoming program for Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 transportation. This annual program is presented as a solution to help people return to their hometowns while reducing the density of private vehicles on the highway.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said the free homecoming program is a tangible form of the government's presence in supporting community mobility at an important moment at the end of the year.

"We hope that this program can ease the burden on the community while reducing the density of private vehicles during the year-end holidays," he said in an official statement, Thursday, October 23.

Dudy said that this year's free homecoming program plans to involve three main modes of transportation, namely land, sea, and rail modes. For land transportation modes, the Ministry of Transportation has prepared 70 bus units with a capacity of around 3,080 passengers.

"It will be dispatched from the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal in Jakarta to ten destination cities in Java, including Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Malang," he said.

In addition to passengers, continued Dudy, this program also facilitates the delivery of two free motorbikes, with the Jakarta "Semarang" and Jakarta Semarang "Yogyakarta" routes.

In the rail transportation mode, there is a Free Motorcycle Transport (Motis) program with a quota of 232 motorbikes per day and 6,360 passengers spread across the north and middle of Java.

Meanwhile, for sea transportation modes, the government provides free tickets for 100 thousand passengers on 155 segments with a fleet of 94 passenger ships.

"This program is part of the Ministry of Transportation's support for people in the archipelago who rely heavily on sea transportation," he said.

Dudy added that further information regarding the scheduled departure, route, and free homecoming registration mechanism will soon be announced by the Ministry of Transportation.
