Rosan Roeslani The Story Behind The Appointment To Be The Boss Of The Danantara

JAKARTA - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani told about the appointment of himself as CEO of Danantara Indonesia by President Prabowo Subianto.

Rosan revealed that before he was elected, Prabowo already had other candidates to occupy the position as CEO of Danantara.

"To be honest I didn't know when he chose me. Because he actually appointed someone before me to lead this. And I also remember that he interviewed several people too," said Rosan at the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025 event in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 14.

Then, continued Rosan, one day he went to Prabowo to report the results of his working visit to Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, Rosan said Prabowo asked about his experience in investing.

I answered, more than 20 years. 'Okay, and you have a good experience for being the US Ambassador for two years, and you are also leading the largest entrepreneurial organization in Indonesia, right?' said Rosan.

In the meeting with Prabowo, continued Rosan, he was also asked to explain his understanding of sovereign wealth funds (SWF).

"Okay, tell me about the SWF, what do you know? So in the end I talked to him for almost 3 hours," said Rosan.

In the end, continued Rosan, Prabowo also chose himself to lead Danantara Indonesia.

"And we discussed Danantara, and at the end of the discussion I remember, (Rosan gave a statement to Prabowo's movement to crash the table), 'I found the right person. Now you will lead Danantara' just like that,' said Rosan.

Even though she has been appointed as CEO of Danantara, Rosan said that she is also still asked to carry out her mandate as Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM.

"Actually, when he pointed, I seemed a little surprised. He said, 'Are you also a minister? You also serve two positions as Head of BKPM. Okay, I add one more, now you are CEO of our SWF, a company worth 3 trillion US dollars", he said.
