JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, recorded increased productivity and operational efficiency, with the full support of the Government through BPI Danantara.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Military Commander Tsani, revealed that a series of strategic improvement measures had had a positive impact on this state-owned company in the first semester of 2025.

"In the midst of the challenges of maintaining the post-PKPU fleet which became the Company's burden in Semester 1-2025, Garuda Indonesia Group was able to produce higher productivity even with less number of operational aircraft," said the Military Commander to reporters, Wednesday, October 8.

This performance optimization is reflected in an increase in revenue per aircraft. The military said that the average income for each Garuda Indonesia fleet operating rose 1.3 percent to 15.88 million US dollars in the January-June 2025 period.

"Citilink even recorded a higher growth of 4.4 percent to 11.47 million US dollars per aircraft," he said.

Another aspect that shows improvement is revenue from charter flights which grew 15.66 percent to USD 205.84 million. Garuda, said the Military Commander, also managed to reduce operating expenses from USD 1.53 billion to USD 1.50 billion.

However, according to the Military Commander, profitability is still a challenge. Post-restructuring long-term financial obligations still put pressure on financial reports.

"One of the main problems is the fleet that cannot operate (grounded) but remains the company's burden," he said.

To overcome fleet limitations, the Military Commander said, Garuda Indonesia Group with Danantara support had reactivated five Airbus A320 Citilink fleets until early October 2025.

"Furthermore, it is hoped that it will be able to restore up to 15 Citilink aircraft by the end of 2025," said the Military Commander.

In addition, continued the Military Commander, improvement strategies will also continue to be optimized, including focusing on profitable flight routes through route restructuring programs.

"With these various improvement efforts and Danantara's full support, we are targeting that by the end of this year Garuda Indonesia will be able to immediately improve our equity position to be positive," he concluded.
