Pockets Of IDR 35 Trillion, Director General Of Oil And Gas ESDM Calls The Compliance Level Of Mining Reclamation Reaches 72 Percent

JAKARTA - Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, revealed that the level of compliance of mining companies related to reclamation and post-mining guarantees has increased significantly.

Tri said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources noted that this compliance grew from 39 percent to around 72 percent.

"For reclamation guarantees, post-mining guarantees, compliance has increased from 39 percent to around 72 percent at this time," Tri said, Thursday, September 25.

Tri added that currently the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is targeting a compliance level of up to 100 percent. The reason is, post-mining guarantees and post-mining guarantees are not only an administrative obligation of a company but also an indicator of maturity in governance.

Just so you know, until now the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has pocketed at least IDR 30 trillion to IDR 35 trillion as a post-mining reclamation guarantee from mining companies.

Tri Winarno said the jumbo funds had been placed in a government-owned bank.

"If the total value for reclamation and post-mining is currently, it may be around Rp. 30 trillion-Rp. 35 trillion and placed in a government bank," he explained.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has suspended mining business permits (IUP) of 190 mineral and coal mining companies.

According to him, this step is the result of a thorough evaluation of the mining sector by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal.

The suspension was based on a letter from the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025.

Tri also confirmed that he had sent a warning letter three times to the company before being frozen with his license.

"While each company makes payments, then updated with us, we will reopen," Tri said.
