The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) continues to make various efforts to strengthen governance and build capture fisheries facilities in eastern Indonesia, especially in Papua, Maluku and East Nusa Tenggara.
Acting (Plt) Director General of Capture Fisheries of KKP Ridwan Mulyana said that assistance distributed directly or in the form of Special Allocation Funds (DAK) to provincial and district/city governments.
The goal is to increase the productivity of fishing businesses and fishermen's welfare.
"The form is in the form of developing fishery port facilities, assistance for production facilities in fishing villages as well as assistance for fishing boats and fishing gear for small fishermen," said Ridwan in a written statement, Tuesday, September 9.
Ridwan explained that development in eastern Indonesia was also financed through Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) originating from Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) for Fisheries Natural Resources (SDA), both Fishery Entrepreneurship Charges (PPP) and Fishery Products (PHP) are managed.
Then, the results are returned to the community, namely in the form of development financing and most of them are managed directly by local governments through the DBH mechanism.
It was recorded that from 2020 to 2024, the KKP had disbursed the APBN for eastern Indonesia amounting to Rp70.9 billion, provincial DAK amounting to Rp415.13 billion and district/city DAK amounting to Rp502.16 billion.
In addition to DAK, development in eastern Indonesia is also carried out through a budget managed by the KKP.
"In 2023, the KKP succeeded in creating a pilot modern fishing village (Kalamo) at Samber Binyeri Biak and became an inspiration for the development model of the Merah Putih Fisherman Village which will be carried out massively in 2025-2027," he said.
Of the 65 locations planned to be built in 2025, said Ridwan, several potential locations are in Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Papua.
"Similarly with the development of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP). Of the number of KDMPs that have business units in the marine fisheries sector as many as 34,606 locations, 5,077 of which are in the Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Papua regions," he said.
The KKP noted that the realization of PNBP SDA fisheries reached Rp951.01 billion throughout 2024.
