JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Ferry Julianto as Minister of Cooperatives replacing Budi Arie Setiadi today, Monday, September 8.

Prior to serving as minister, Ferry served as Deputy Minister of Cooperatives since being inaugurated by Prabowo in October 2024.

Ferry is a Gerindra Party politician and serves as Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party DPP.

The man who was born on July 27, 1967, received a bachelor's degree at Padjadjaran University (Unpad) majoring in Accounting.

Ferry then continued his education at the master's level by majoring in International Relations Studies, Specialities, International Political Economy, at the University of Indonesia in 2006.

Ferry also served as Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dhopopin) of the DKI Jakarta Region and was noted to have answered that the Secretary of the Main Board of the Village Unit Cooperative (KUD), Chairman of the Main Market Trade Cooperative (Inkoppas), and Deputy Managing Director of the Fisherman Farmers Cooperative (Inkoptan).

Selain sebagai politikus, Ferry juga terkenal sebai aktivis dan pernah ditahan pada tahun 2008 setelah memimpin aksi demonstrasi menolak kenaikan harga bahan bakar minyak (BBM) di era pemerintahan Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Apart from being a politician, Ferry is also known as an activist and was detained in 2008 after leading a demonstration against rising fuel prices (BBM) in the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration.
