Ausmelt's First Ausmelt Technology Smelter In ASEAN, PT Timah Admits Lack Of Tin Ore Supply

PANGKAL PINANG - lead processing industry owned by PT Timah Tbk (TINS) which has Ausmelt Furnace's top submerge length (TSL) technology admits that the meter has not been operating optimally. In fact, the smelter, which has been operating since 2022, is the only smelter with ausmelt technology in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).

Director of Business Development of PT Timah Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara said that actually the smelter located in West Bangka Regency has a fairly large capacity of 40,000 tons per year but is still constrained by the supply of tin concentrate.

"The smelter of our ausmelt in terms of production capacity is still quite large, but in terms of supply, our supply is still lacking, that's all. Even though the capacity is very large," he said at a media conference in Pangkal Pinang, quoted on Sunday, August 24.

He added that this ausmelt is actually capable of producing 40,000 tons per year but the installed capacity is still at 20,000 tons of ingots per year.

For this reason, Suhendra said PT Timah wanted to optimize the production capacity of this smelter with the performance of mining partners so that tin concentrate production capacity could be met.

Its supply must be optimized. That's what we expect from all kinds of partner agreements 'Lo must deposit so much for the smelter'," he said.

As is known, PT Timah Tbk also realized the downstream program through the use of the latest technology in tin commodity processing. Technology called the melting of the Top Submerge Lance (TSL) Ausmelt Furnace is a new chapter in technological transformation in tin processing.

TSL Ausmelt Furnace is a Tin strategy to answer the challenges faced by the tin mining industry today, especially maximizing low-level tin concentrate.
