MPMX Continues Mangrove Rehabilitation, Reaches 100,000 Seeds Planted In Golo Sepang Village, NTT

JAKARTA - PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPMX) together with its Child Entity, MPM Honda East Java, resumed the mangrove rehabilitation program in the Muara Sungai Terang area, Golo Sepang Village, West Manggarai Regency, NTT, by planting 40,000 mangrove seeds. This initiative is a continuation of the Company's commitment to supporting climate change impact mitigation and implementing the best practices to achieve environmental sustainability, through a series of sustainability activities entitled MPM EcoMangrove.

The planting ceremony in the 4th year was held on August 14, 2025, attended by MPMX Commissioner Tossin Himawan, MPMX Group CFO totaling Kartika, and GM Corporate Communication & Sustainability Natalia Lusnita. Also present were the Head of the Environmental Service, Mr. Vinsensius Gande, S.Pd. representing the Regent of West Manggarai, the Head of Golo Sepang Village Saverius Banskoan, SH, the mangrove activist community, community leaders, and local residents.

MPM EcoMangrove is designed comprehensively and implemented in stages since 2022, starting from location surveys and land identification, community socio-economic mapping, planting and maintenance techniques training mangroves, community institutional strengthening, to signing agreements with mangrove activist groups to ensure the sustainability of mangrove programs and treatments.

And as of this year, MPMX has planted 100,000 mangrove seeds on a conservation area of 10 hectares. Based on periodic monitoring, the survival rate of the seeds reaches 85 percent, one of which is a positive indicator of the success of this program as a long-term effort to restore and protect coastal ecosystems.

In addition to focusing on environmental conservation, MPMX also integrates aspects of economic empowerment in the MPM EcoMangrove program. Crab cultivation training and development have also been provided for local fishing groups, using the crab apartment method that allows fishermen to get an increase in crab harvest without damaging natural habitats. Currently, the harvest yield of the assisted fishing group has been supplied to one of the restaurants in the Labuan Bajo area, creating additional economic value for them.

During this visit, MPMX distributed an additional 100 units of crab apartments, bringing the total that has been given to fishermen to 150 units. This support is expected to expand production capacity and significantly increase fishermen's income.

In addition to fishermen, coastal mothers also receive training and assistance, to process natural raw materials from the surrounding environment into economic-valued products. Products that have been successfully developed are mangrove fruit plus crab chili sauce, which has also been assisted to obtain a Domestic Industry Production Certificate (PIRT), so that products can be marketed more widely.

Now, Golo Sepang Village is increasingly known. Not only does it attract the attention of tourists who want to try to track mangroves and play canoes, but it is also a real research and work lecture location (KKN) for students from various institutions. This village is now developing into a conservation-based ecotourism destination and promising community empowerment.

This mangrove crab capacity has become a multiplier and a dynamicator for various activities that encourage local economic growth. This program proves that a collaboration-based approach and sustainability can create chain effects that expand benefits for the community.
