Prabowo Admits High Economic Growth But Is Not Yet Reflected In People's Lives

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that although Indonesia's economic growth rate is fairly high, the reality on the ground still shows significant inequality.

He considered that this problem arose due to inconsistency in the application of the 1945 Constitution, which then created economic distortions and inequality in the results of development.

"When we are not concerned about implementing our Basic Law, economic distortion occurs. Economic equity occurs that is not fast, where only a handful of people enjoy our economic growth," he said at the MPR RI Annual Session and the 2025 DPR-DPD RI Joint Session. , at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Prabowo added, although in the last seven years the national economic growth has averaged around 5 percent, this achievement has not had enough impact on the welfare of the community as a whole.

"There are still too many children who are starving, farmers and fishermen have difficulty selling their crops, people do not yet have decent houses, teachers have not been appreciated, and families who are unable to seek treatment because of the costs or absence of health facilities in their area," he added.

Even so, Prabowo still voiced optimism about his government's performance in the last 299 days.

He said that efforts to carry out the Constitution consistently began to show positive results, although they had to face global challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, trade wars, and world economic tensions.

"In the midst of political conflicts, economic conflicts that occur in the world, the Indonesian economy still manages to grow above 5 percent, grow in 5.12 percent, and experts believe this will increase in the future," he said.
