Agrinas CEO Alleges Danantara Bureaucracy is Complicated, Not Meeting Prabowo's Expectations

JAKARTA - Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota revealed his reasons for resigning from his position as President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. One of the reasons was the complicated bureaucracy at Danantara Indonesia, the manager of the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN).

"I want to convey that the bureaucracy implemented by Danantara still does not meet the expectations of the President, who wants to cut or speed up (bureaucratic processes)," he said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, August 11.

Joao stated that Danantara exists to accelerate or streamline business-related processes, rather than building a long and convoluted bureaucracy.

According to Joao, the complicated bureaucracy actually hinders the implementation of tasks assigned by President Prabowo Subianto.

"Well, that's what has been hampering the process or orders of the President. His aides always say, 'Yes, sir, yes, sir,' but no one executes them, they're not long-winded, and they don't focus on the conditions and situation," he said.

Joao stated that during its six months in existence, Agrinas Pangan Nusantara was unable to implement its work program. This was because the company was ordered to conduct feasibility studies (FS) repeatedly.

"The bureaucracy that created a very long, convoluted bureaucracy, which is almost impossible for us to implement. That bureaucracy is still maintained and practiced within Danantara. So, to this day, we are still being asked for another FS, which is probably the third or the third time we have submitted it," he explained.

Joao has decided to resign from his position as President Director of Agrinas Pangan Nusantara today, feeling he has failed to achieve the food security target. He said his resignation letter will be submitted to Danantara.

"I am submitting my resignation as a form of responsibility, and frankly, I am ashamed to have led this company for six months and not been able to carry out its constitutional duties. I am deeply ashamed," he said.

For your information, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota was officially appointed as President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara on February 10, 2025, through Decree of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises No. 32/MBU/02/2025.

Meanwhile, PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero) was officially launched on Wednesday, May 14. This company is a transformation of the state-owned construction company PT Yodya Karya (Persero).
