News Ciamik: For Operations, Kendari Government Began To Use Electric Cars

JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) Kendari launched a Hyundai LoniQ Electric sedan type electric car for the kendari government's scope service vehicles conducted on the 190th Anniversary of the City, Sunday, May 10.

Mayor Kendari Sulkarnain Kadir said that the presence of battery-based electric vehicles is one of the ways the region introduces its potential.

"We know together sultra has the largest nickel deposit in the world. And one of the products of this nickel product is lithium batteries that become the main components of electric vehicles," he said, reported from Antara.

Furthermore, electric vehicles are the vehicles of the future that are environmentally friendly so as to make the earth healthier and free from air pollution.

"So this is the reason why Kendari City took the initiative to become a locomotive to introduce electric vehicles to the community," said Sulkarnain.

Sulkarnain confirmed that the Hyundai Loniq Electric car will be used for government operations, which will be gradually procurement.

"And then gradually we will replace vehicles that have been using fossil fuels, we switch to electric fuel because it is environmentally friendly and much more efficient," he explained.

The mayor also urged the public to use this product, to help realize the ecologically viable Kendari City, because this car is more environmentally friendly because it does not produce exhaust emissions.

Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager regional sales, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Bobby Wirawan, said, Hyundai Loniq Electric electric car has a battery capacity of 38.3 kWh and can travel a distance of 311 kilometers.

"The position is at the bottom of the cabin. But no need to worry because passengers and motorists will not be electrocuted while driving this car even though it passes through puddles because this car already has an IP69K certificate which means, this car is resistant to solid substances such as dust and high power water pressure from all sides," concluded Bobby Wirawan.

The launch of the use of electric cars for the service was marked by ribbon cutting by the chairman of PKK Kendari, Sri Lestari Sulkarnain, witnessed by the mayor, deputy mayor and elements of Forkopimda Kendari.
