Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati ensured that the budget for the People's School program in the 2026 fiscal year would increase significantly compared to this year's allocation.
"The budget has increased significantly. This year it is around IDR 7 trillion, spread across various ministries, such as the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Public Works," said Sri Mulyani in Jakarta, Saturday, August 9.
According to him, the addition of this budget will be officially conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto on August 15, along with the submission of the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN) in the annual session at the DPR.
The increase in the budget was triggered by plans to increase the number of People's Schools throughout Indonesia. By 2025, the government has built and operated 159 People's Schools. Next year, the number is targeted to increase to 200 schools.
"This budget-funded facility includes operations, teacher salaries, infrastructure development, and the provision of laptops for students," said Sri Mulyani.
