JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) received a visit from Ritsumeikan University, Japan students. The visit was related to the Summer School Tailor-Made-Cooperation-Workshop program organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI).

This visit aims to introduce herbal medicine culture and understand the dynamics of the Indonesian market. Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat, explained that this program is an opportunity to introduce herbal medicine to foreign students.

"I'm happy, I have the opportunity to introduce herbal medicine to students," said Irwan Hidayat at his office, Cipete Raya, South Jakarta, recently.

Irwan explained that herbal medicine is known in Japan, although not as popular as other products. One of the Japanese herbal beverage products that is equivalent to herbal medicine is Ukon, which is usually consumed to increase body stamina. Realizing this habit, he believes that his products can be loved by Japanese people, as in the country.

"In Japan, the famous one is Ukon. Japanese people drink it because he is an alcoholicand smoker," said Irwan.

On this occasion, Irwan explained about clinical trials carried out on his products. As a pioneer of standardized herbal medicine companies, Irwan considers this to be a plus for his products.

"The company did not develop. Then, I finally thought about how to make standardized herbal products such as the pharmaceutical industry," he said.

According to Irwan, these various efforts ultimately increase people's trust in their products. He stated that public trust cannot be bought in any way, apart from perseverance and seriousness in maintaining quality. "We cannot buy public trust. It comes because of persistence," he said.

Professor of Business Administration Ritsumeikan University, Sachiko Miyata, admitted that he was impressed with the Sido Muncul business model. Moreover, Sido Muncul's clinical trial process for various products has won the trust of the community.

"We are very impressed with how he developed his business, including clinical trials. From his own ideas, because previously he said there was a stagnant period from the company," said Sachiko.

On the other hand, Ritsumeikan University student Ai Tomioka revealed this is the first time she has known herbal medicine and consumed it. Previously, Tomioka said he usually only took supplements, instead of traditional beverage products.

"This is protein, vitamins. Magnesium and supplements. Multiple supplements," said Tomioka.

In addition to having the opportunity to taste traditional Indonesian drinks, he admitted that he was enthusiastic because this visit provided new insights into the Indonesian market.

"I am very impressed and can learn about the dynamics of the Indonesian market directly," he said.
